  • Incompetent cervix

It is getting close to the one year mark since Kansys went to heaven to be held by the King. So I have been thinking about her a lot lately and doing all the research time will allow me to do via the internet and library. I feel so much more aware. There are many women out there who have the same pregnancy issues I do. The perinatologist said it was incompetent cervix and that it is very rare. Well I don't know if that is really the case because I have met many other women and read many stories of other women who have the same problem. One of the things I have been researching is the Transabdominal Cerclage... also known as TAC. This is a cerclage done through the abdomen in the same spot that a csaerian would be done. They tie a stitch around the very top of the cervix instead of at the bottom where most cerclages are done. In almost all cases there is no bed rest required but get this...the thing that really grabbed my attention about this procedure is the success rate. The success rate for a prepregnancy procedure is 100% and the success rate for the procedure being done after conception is 98%. That is amazing compared to the success rate for the vaginal cerclage which is what the doctor told me I would have to have if we were ever blessed with another child. That success rate is only 70-80%. I don't know why he didn't mention the TAC to me. Possibly because there aren't many doctors that do the procedure.

While researching this amazing procedure I came across a group called abbyloopers on Yahoo. They are a group of women who have been diagnosed with IC (incompetent cervix) and have had the TAC already or are interested in it. Let me just say they are the most kind and caring women and they have all been there too so it is very therapeutic to talk with them. If anyone reading this has or thinks they may have IC I would highly recommend you google abbyloopers and check this group out. Also if you are thinking of trying to become pregnant and have IC  I would google transabdominal cerclage and read up on it. I don't know why they don't just go right to the TAC instead of trying the transvaginal cerclage first. I mean who wants to take those risks with a LIFE when there is something far superior out there.

I don't know if the Lord will bless our family with another child or not, that doesn't mean I can't spread the word and try to help other women who are in the same boat as me.

  • Thunderstorms and hot chocolate

I just got through sitting on the front deck with Kyah listening to the thunder storm with a cup of hot chocolate...we have been spending quality time together since Broder is out of town with Papa & Granny. It is always nice to get one on one with each child. It seems you get to know them so much more. She is so funny the other day she came up to me out of the blue and said " Mama I can't wait to go to heaven and see Kansys and meet Johnny Cash"... ha ha ha she loves music and we have some CD's with hymms that he sings and she listens to them over and over again.

While playing with her stuffed dog this morning (bolt). Kyah has her play "puter" and she is scanning bolt with the mouse... she says "see mama the doctor gave bolt an elevator and puter to see if he has any stains"

???? WHAT???? Apparently having a stain means he is sick and the elevator is to make him feel better?

Sometimes I think it would be nice to take a peek into our childs minds to see just what it is they are thinking. Oh... what fun that would be.

  • BACK

I'm back. I haven't been writing on here obviously... just been busy and blogging kind of lost its excitement for me. I do miss it though so I am going to try and write more often.

Lately we have been canning, freezing, and baking WAY to much. I don't want to see another tomato or green bean for a long time. We are onto pumpkins now. We planted baking pumpkins this year and have about 30 in the garden that seem to be ready. We made cookies yesterday and will do a pie and bread tomorrow. The rest I think we'll freeze or give away. If anyone has a great pumpkin recipe they want to share that would be great.

The kiddos are doing good. Kane is excelling in his schoolwork he has even started cursive just on his own and can often be found with a pad and pencil in the yard... under the table... or on his bed practicing his new skills. He is very excited about it. Kyah is reading with more fluency, she really likes the Mcguffey reader. She is turning into such a little girl... obviously she has always been a girl but I mean she is just so grown up. The baby... toddler.. stage is definitely gone. She is proving to be a very giving person. Most of her and Kanes fights end with her giving brother what he wants and being happy that she has made him happy. I'm not to sure what to think of that.

    Not much else to share

better get on with the day.

  • Photo blog

It has been a while since I have written anything so I thought I better get on the ball. We are doing GREAT! Aarons job is still very dependable.... a very good thing in this economy. We have been able to go out and enjoy the outdoors as a family because the weather has been better. Kane is still enjoying Tball... and is quite the ball player. Kyah is reading now (she is so extremely excited about this) and branching out socially. She met a little sister of one of Kanes team members and they are the best of friends. I can't believe she is going to be four on the 15th... WOW. Time flys way to fast. I am finally learning how to cope with the emotional pain I was going through... before I was just kind of ignoring it and saying I was o.k. ....bad.. bad... bad. So I am confronting it full blown now and have a journal I write in when I start getting down about losing Kansys. It helps bring my spirits up to get it out.  After all we didn't really lose her... she is with our heavenly father safe and sound. Sometimes it is easy to forget that she is happier there. I haven't had much down time lately we have been going so much. June is swimming lessons and July is VBS so I don't expect it to slow down any time soon. That's o.k. though it is fun seeing the children get to enjoy all these things.

    Here are some recent photos.
